According to Indian manufacturer Jindal, the stainless steel industry of India could face huge challenges while expanding stainless steel production scale and consumption due to emerging scrap protectionism sprouts in several countries.

As India prefers to use scrap steel as the main material in stainless steel production, scrap self-sufficiency has been an urgent problem for India. On the other hand, India will also have a larger stainless steel demand in future years.

Statistics showed that India, as the second-largest stainless steel consumer in the world, will need 4.6-4.8 million tons of stainless steel in 2025 and 6.6-6.8 million tons in 2030.
