PT Aneka Tambang (Antam), a state-owned diversified mining company in Indonesia, said that the company was scheduled to complete the construction of its smelter-grade alumina refinery next year.

The alumina refinery was initially planned to complete construction in 2019 but was delayed for several years. Now it is aimed to put into operation in June 2024 and produce 1 million tons of smelter-grade alumina.

The Indonesian government started a ban on exports of raw material for aluminum this month to stimulate the smelters’ development, and Antam expected a limited impact caused by the export ban on the earnings this year due to bauxite’s lower contribution in revenue.
