Indonesia’s stainless steel semi-finished products & plate exports slide in May

According to statistics, Indonesia’s ferronickel exports totaled around 483,000 tons in May, up by 6.5% compared to the preceding month. The exports in the first five months of this year amounted to roughly 2.12 million tons.

In May, Indonesia’s exports of stainless steel semi-finished products, under HS code 7218, totaled around 195,000 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 10.3%. The exports of stainless steel wide plate, under HS code 7219, were around 224,000 tons, a month-on-month drop of nearly 10%.

In the January-May period, Indonesia’s exports of stainless steel semi-finished products amounted to about 805,000 tons. China, Taiwan, and South Africa were the top three export destinations. The exports of stainless steel wide plate were approximately 1.2 million tons, and China, Taiwan, and Vietnam were the main importers.
