In the past two weeks, Italian domestic rebar prices had further dropped and some of the market participants considered that the price level now had already reached the bottom price line.

However, a manager of an Italian steel mill said that he felt the time now was better than the time in the first half of May. Although the current market transactions were not really active, he believed that the orders from Italy and overseas would be increasing and the buying activities would be recovered in a short period of time.

Compared with the steel flat product, the performance of the long products like rebars was much greater as the construction projects in Italy and other parts of Europe were resumed rapidly which speeded up the rate of demand.

In addition, the trend of the international scrap prices kept rising which was hard to lower the price of the rebars recently.
