On a year-on-year basis, China's primary aluminium production in January 2024 edged an increase of 2.83 per cent from 3.464 million tonnes. The country's daily average production was 114,900 tonnes, down by 2.86 per cent from 111,700 tonnes a year ago.
The world's second-largest primary aluminium-producing region, the Gulf Cooperation Council, produced 532,000 tonnes of the raw metal, which, compared to the previous year, stood 1.33 per cent higher than 525,000 tonnes. On a month-on-month basis, the output slightly grew by 2,000 tonnes or 0.38 per cent from 530,000 tonnes.
The daily average output in the Gulf region was 17,200 tonnes in January 2024, almost unchanged from the previous month and up by 1.78 per cent from 16,900 tonnes a year earlier.
The world's daily average primary aluminium production in January 2024 was 194,800 tonnes, 2.36 per cent more than 190,300 tonnes in January 2023. The world’s both daily and monthly production in January 2024 recorded a rise of the same percentage.
For the full year 2024, AL Circle, in its recent report "Global Aluminium Industry Outlook 2024", estimates primary aluminium production to reach 100.9 million tonnes.
