Japan's aluminum product shipments decrease for 16 consecutive months

According to statistics released by the Japan Aluminum Association (JAA) on December 25, Japan’s aluminum product shipments totaled around 149,000 tons in November, dropping by 4.6% compared to the same month a year ago, which have decreased for 16 months in a row.

Among them, the demand for aluminum cans fell by 4.2% year on year to roughly 28,500 tons, and the demand from the automotive market rose by 4.2% year on year to around 16,800 tons.

Meanwhile, the output of aluminum products in Japan had a year-on-year decrease of 3.6% to roughly 152,000 tons.

Among them, the output of aluminum sheets applied to make aluminum cans, electronic equipment, automotive components, and exports declined by 2.7% year on year to roughly 91,000 tons, and the output of aluminum extrusions used in construction and automobiles decreased by 4.8% to about 61,000 tons.
