Japan’s stainless steel exports grow in Oct m-o-m, with export unit price down

Statistics from the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) showed that Japan's stainless steel exports reached around 61,400 tons in October, increasing by 4.6% from the previous month, with an average export unit price falling by 1.9%.

The performance of the main markets was as follows: China increased by 8.0%, South Korea increased by 43.7%, Taiwan grew by 16.2%, the US decreased by 49%, and Thailand fell by 2.8%. Although exports to the US and Thailand declined, growth in other markets led to an increase in total exports.

In October, exports of special steel products were approximately 405,000 tons, a drop of 14.6% compared to the preceding month. The total export volume of special steel products, including stainless steel products, decreased by 12.5% month on month to around 466,000 tons.
