Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL), the largest stainless steel manufacturer in India, said that the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the national standard body of India for setting quality and certification standards for products in India, has introduced three grades, N5, N6, and N7, under the standard IS 15997. The three grades will be mainly for the application in the utensils and kitchenware sectors.

Due to the important issues regarding health and hygiene in using food contact materials, the standards are critical for consumers. Jindal Stainless is one of the first companies to apply for and receive certification for those grades.
