Oman’s Jindal Steel Sohar, formerly Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel LLC, is upgrading its eight-strand Concast continuous caster at its Sohar Port facility to meet rising construction industry demand. This strategic modernization, leveraging expertise from SMS, will raise production and expand Jindal Shadeed's product portfolio to include new 180 SQ and 200 SQ sections.

The upgrade incorporates advanced mechanical components, including the CONSTIR-MEMS stirrer for improved steel homogeneity and the CONFLOW stopper control for precise steel flow. These technologies, coupled with advanced automation systems, can enhance product quality and dimensional accuracy, reducing defects and minimizing downtime.

The upgraded Concast billet caster is scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2025, building on the plant's successful commissioning in 2017.
