Kardemir, an integrated long products producer in Turkey, planned to sell 503,000 tons of steel products in the first quarter of 2022, lower than the target sales volume of 579,000 tons in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The sales goal of billet for the first quarter of 2022 was set at 152,000 tons, down by 47,000 tons from the previous quarter; that of rebars was 140,000 tons, greatly higher than the 111,000 tons in the previous quarter; that of section steel was 100,000 tons, lower than this fourth quarter’s 111,000 tons.

Kardemir is expanding its scope of value-added products. The company has placed an order with SMS group to modernize its wire rod mill to produce compact coil specifically used in transportation and container shipping. Commissioning was scheduled for early 2022.

Kardemir targeted to reach an annual production capacity of 3.5 million tons through investment in the next few years.
