President Director of state-owned steel maker Krakatau Steel Silmy Karim in Monday’s statement said the company is targeting a 20.77 percent export volume growth in 2021 to a total of 155 kilotons.

The initial step to achieve that goal, he said, is through the delivery of 31.76 kilotons to Malaysia which is a significant increase compared to last year in the same period that saw 830.97 tons of exports to the country.

“Krakatau Steel management has utilized the pandemic situation as an opportunity to enter the export market that is currently opened, an opportunity caused by the disruption in the world’s steel supply chain,” said Silmy on February 1, 2021.

As a comparison, in 2020 the company that is registered as KRAS in the stock market managed to export sales up to 128.34 kilotons, which is not far from this year’s likely achievable goal of 155 kilotons.

Moreover, he announced that the initial exports to Malaysia this year will consist of Hot Rolled Coil (HRC), Hot Rolled Plate (HRP), and Hot Rolled Pickled Oil (HRPO), which will be sent directly from the Krakatau Bandar Samudera Port in Banten.
