Latin American crude steel output down in Sep

According to statistics from the Latin American steel association Alacero, production of crude steel in Latin America totaled around 4.7 million tons in September this year, down by 4.5% compared to the previous month and by 7% year on year.

Among them, output from electric arc furnaces accounted for 2.2 million tons, and blast furnaces shared 2.5 million tons. Brazil produced the most with 2.5 million tons, and Mexico ranked second with 1.3 million tons.

In the first nine months of the year, crude steel production in the region amounted to roughly 43.7 million tons, a year-on-year decline of 8.4%.
