Latin American pig iron output decreases in Sep

According to statistics from the Latin American steel association Alacero, in September, Latin American pig iron output totaled about 2.54 million tons, decreasing by 2.4% year on year. Among them, Brazil's pig iron production decreased by 2.5% year on year to 2.11 million tons. Argentina's pig iron output amounted to about 170,000 tons, keeping almost flat from the previous month and increasing by 4.2% year on year. Meanwhile, Chile's output totaled around 52,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 31%.

In the first nine months, Latin American pig iron output totaled 22.9 million tons. Among them, Brazil was the biggest pig iron production country, falling by 5.1% year on year to about 19.15 million tons. During the same period, Argentina's and Chile's production amounted to 1.53 million tons and 447,000 tons, respectively.
