Latin American steel exports to US increase in Sep

According to preliminary data from the US Census Bureau, in September, Latin American steel exports to the US totaled about 740,000 tons, increasing by 34.3% month on month and hiking by 59.4% year on year. Meanwhile, the export value amounted to about US$654 million.
Among them, Mexico accounted for the largest proportion of Latin American steel exports to the US, with about 325,000 tons, slightly increasing by 1.8% month on month and growing by 13.2% year on year.
In the first nine months, the US’ steel imports from Latin America amounted to 5.99 million tons, slightly increasing by 0.7% year on year.
In the same period, Mexico’s steel exports to the US totaled 3.09 million tons, dropping by 20.5% from the same period a year ago.
