A survey showed that the average price of aluminum futures on the London Metal Exchange (LME) in 2021 was expected to reach US$1,971/ton, closing to the US$2,000/ton lever, dropping by 3% from the current price.

Aluminum prices have risen by 9% in 2020, while most of the excess aluminum was in financing transactions instead of entering the market.

Goran Djukanovic, an independent aluminum industry consultant, said that it is not surprising if the LME aluminum prices reach US$2,000/ton due to the strong demand in China and the rapid recovery of demand from other countries.
