The London Metal Exchange (LME) copper futures fell by 2.4% to US$9,719.50/ton last Friday (January 14), which was the biggest drop since November 26 last year.

According to market analysis, the inflation and the spread of infectious diseases had increased concerns about a slowdown in global economic growth. With the US consumer confidence index falling more than economists expected in early January 2022, retail sales were recorded with a 10-month biggest decrease in December last year.
