After the fake nickel scandal that happened at the London Metal Exchange (LME)’s warehouse in the Netherlands in March this year, the exchange tightens rules by requiring warehouse companies to conduct additional checks on stocks of warranted nickel.

These additional checks include the use of magnets and metal detectors, as well as touch checks, which means warehouse workers have to touch the outside of bags to verify that the material inside is the appropriate size and shape. Besides, the LME also asks warehouses to weigh nickel delivered from the LME system.
