The London Metal Exchange (LME) nickel futures price soared by US$212/ton and closed at US$19,157/ton on April 25. Meanwhile, the nickel spot price hiked by US$199/ton to US$18,994/ton. The nickel inventory at LME grew by 744 tons to 77,622 tons.

Although the US’ Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first quarter didn’t perform well and the inflation remained high, the US dollar was out of expectation to become weak. Meanwhile, China’s social inventories of stainless steel kept decreasing, and its stainless steel futures gradually became strong.
