Malaysia has revised duties on imports of cold-rolled coils of alloy and non-alloy steel from Vietnam to 7.42-33.7 percent for the period between January 24 and May 23.

Its Ministry of International Trade and Industry of concluded there was a substantial change in the dumping margin under its Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act.

Malaysia will impose a 7.42 percent duty on cold-rolled steel manufacturer POSCO Vietnam’s products and 33.7 percent on the products of other steelmakers.

The country initiated the anti-dumping investigation in July 2020 based on a petition by Mycron Steel CRC Sdn Bhd., a leading producer of cold-rolled coils.

It already had anti-dumping duties on many steel products originating from Vietnam.

On December 28 last year, it slapped duties of 7.73-34.82 percent on Vietnamese cold-rolled stainless steel for three months.

On December 23, duties of 3.06-37.14 percent were imposed on flat-rolled product of non-alloy steel or steel coated with aluminum and zinc. They will be in effect until December 11, 2025.

In September 2019, Malaysia had imposed a 7.7 percent anti-dumping duty on steel products from POSCO Vietnam and 20.13 percent on products made by other Vietnamese steelmakers for five years.
