Metro Mining Limited, an Australia-based exploration and mining company, reported the company's bauxite shipments totaled 720,000 wet metric tonnes in August, hiking by 13% compared to the preceding month and by 29% from the same month a year ago. The figure hit a new high due to expansion activities at its Bauxite Hills Mine in Queensland.

The record was set despite Metro Mining suspending operations for two days to replace conveyor belts at the barge loading facility and perform planned maintenance on the transhippers.

In the first half of this year, Metro Mining’s shipments also hit a record high at 1.5 million wet metric tonnes, making the company’s second-quarter revenue reach US$19 million, a growth of 30%.
