Vedanta Aluminium marked the 55th Earth Day, themed ‘Our Power, Our Planet’, quite literally by strengthening their sustainability milestones. By collaborating with PwC, the company achieved success in waste-to-wealth initiatives, renewable energy adoption, and biodiversity conservation. This marks the organisation's commitment towards integrating sustainability into industrial practices.

Vedanta Aluminium, since 2022, has successfully provided over 1.5 million tonnes of fly ash to cement producers and 3 million tonnes to NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) projects. Besides this, the organisation has also delivered over 0.3 million tonnes of fly ash to MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise) for effective brick production. This also marks the company's 650th fly ash dispatch from the Jharsuguda facility. So far into 2025, the company has dispatched a total of 223 fly ash rakes, marking a total utilisation rate of 113 per cent.

The collaboration with PwC was initiated by the organisation for carbon reduction and biodiversity projects. In this collaborative project, both the companies, under the Matrivan initiative as well as the government-led Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, planted more than a lakh trees in Jharsuguda. Apart from this collaboration, the organisation also signed an MoU for attaining a supply of natural gas for supporting its upcoming 430-kilo tonnes per annum (KTPA) cast house with GAIL India.

On this Earth Day, the company organised an event in Chhattisgarh and Odisha solely to increase awareness and engagement. In this event, more than 145 attendees came from Goipeta village located in Odisha and actively took part in the activities. All the attendees took the initiative and planted more than 15,000 seedlings which also included 500 Chloroxylon swietenia plants as well.

Apart from this, the organisation provided more 250 farmers with 31 water harvesting structure access with the potential to cover 2.5 lakhs metric cube. In another village of Odisha, Jharsuguda, more than 170 teachers and students belonging to OPMP Government Girls' School also became an active attendee of the event and also contributed to the plantation drive.
