Peru’s iron ore production hikes in Jan-Jul

According to the data from the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru (MINEM), Peru produced a total of around 8.4 million tons of iron ore in the first seven months of this year, rising by 15.6% compared to the same period a year ago.
Among them, the production of Shougang Hierro Perú, the largest domestic iron ore producer, accounted for nearly 8.2 million tons, a proportion of almost 98% of Peru’s total iron ore production.
In July alone, Peru’s iron ore production was down by 7% month on month but rose by 6.7% year on year to 1.22 million tons, of which Shougang Hierro Perú’s output occupied around 98.4% of the total, amounting to roughly 1.2 million tons.
