South Korean leading steelmaker POSCO achieved 50 million tons of stainless steel crude steel production on September 18 after its first stainless steel plant was built in March 1989.

After recovering from the flooding damage, POSCO has normalized its operation. The company achieved 50 million tons of cumulative stainless steel crude steel production on the 18th, equivalent to a cold-rolled coil length of 5.26 million kilometers, enough to circle the earth 131 times.

With the continuous technological development and facility improvement, POSCO kept increasing its productivity. It took only five years to increase the cumulative crude steel production from 40 million tons to 50 million tons.

POSCO is currently operating three stainless steel plants, with a total annual production capacity of 2.1 million tons.
