POSCO International Corporation, a subsidiary of POSCO, has completed the construction of an electric vehicle drive motor core plant in Mexico, entering the North American electric vehicle parts market.

The construction cost nearly 13 months, and a ceremony for the inauguration was held this Tuesday (October 17) in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila.

Besides, POSCO also had another plan to build a second drive core factory in Mexico during the first half of next year. With the second factory, the annual capacity of drive motor cores in Mexico will be raised to 2.5 million units by 2030, in line with the group’s goal of growth in the rising eco-friendly automobile industry.

Mexican industrial city was chosen as the site for the core drive motor plant in order to eliminate trade barriers in the electric vehicle component market and reduce logistics costs.
