Rio Tinto and Volvo Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for strategic cooperation.

According to the agreement, Rio Tinto will provide Volvo Group with responsible low-carbon products and solutions, and the two companies will also work hard for the decarbonization of Rio Tinto's business by piloting Volvo Group's sustainable autonomous hauling solutions.

The two parties will work together to enhance the responsible supply of low-carbon materials such as RenewAlTM aluminium, aluminium produced using the ELYSISTM zero-carbon smelting technology, Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) certified aluminium, and Copper Mark certified copper, and explore product development opportunities such as lithium for batteries.
