Rio Tinto Group participated in the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) from November 5th to 10th. At the Expo, Rio Tinto will further present the START™ brand, which records the sustainability and provenance of product materials and can transparently demonstrate where and how materials are produced to help customers and end-users make better choices.

In addition, Rio Tinto will demonstrate its breakthrough low-carbon patented technology BioIron™ in China for the first time. This process uses biomass instead of coking coal as a reducing agent in the steel smelting process and uses microwave energy to convert Pilbara iron ore into metallic iron, which is expected to promote the achievement of near-zero carbon dioxide emissions in the steel smelting process.
