Rio Tinto to stop supplying bauxite to Rusal's Irish smelter

This Thursday (March 10), Rio Tinto declared that it planned to stop supplying bauxite to Rusal's Irish smelter and will also stop buying alumina from the smelter.
This Irish smelter is the major supplier of the European aluminium industry. According to people familiar with the situation, Rio Tinto is trying to halt shipments to and from the smelter, but it is unclear when shipments will be actually halted.
Currently, Rio Tinto wants to rescind the existing contracts. Rio Tinto is joining the group of western companies cutting the line with Russia.
