According to the production results released by Rio Tinto, the company’s bauxite production totaled 54.6 million tons in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 1%, despite equipment reliability problems at Australia's Weipa and Gove mines.

In 2022, Rio Tinto's aluminum production was 3 million tons, down by 4% year on year. The drop was due to lower output at the company's Kitimat smelter in British Columbia, Canada, and Boyne smelter in Queensland, Australia.

The recovery at both Kitimat and Boyne smelters is progressing. They were expected to reach full production in 2023. Besides, all other Rio Tinto's aluminum smelters continue to perform steadily.
