Russia imports fewer stainless steel in Aug

According to statistics released by the Russian Special Steel and Alloys Consumers and Suppliers Association (SpetsStal Association), Russia imported around 31,000 tons of stainless steel in August this year, falling by 3% compared to the previous month and also dropping by 27% from the same month a year ago.
During the period, the import volume of cold-rolled stainless steel products was up by 7.6% and that of hot-rolled stainless steel products slid by 44%, both on a month-on-month basis.
The imports of stainless steel welded pipes grew by 76% month on month, and the volume of stainless steel seamless pipes had a month-on-month increase of 12%. Meanwhile, stainless steel long products and wire imports hiked by 76% and 47% month on month, respectively.
