It was reported that Russia is considering a request of RUSAL, the world’s largest aluminum producer outside China, to exempt the export duties for two of its newest aluminum smelters, Taishet and Boguchansky, which account for approximately 10% of the company’s total production.

Viktor Yevtukhov, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, said the ministry is studying the workability of this decision.

Russia introduced export duties linked to the ruble-dollar exchange rate from October 1, 2023, until the end of 2024 on a wide range of goods.
