Russia’s stainless steel imports grow in May

According to statistics released by the Russian Special Steel and Alloys Consumers and Suppliers Association (SpetsStal Association), Russia imported around 38,000 tons of stainless steel in May this year, growing by 35% compared to the previous month.

During the period, the import volume of cold-rolled stainless steel products was up by 61% and that of hot-rolled stainless steel products also hiked by 12%, both on a month-on-month basis.

The imports of stainless steel welded pipes grew by 45% month on month, and the volume of stainless steel seamless pipes had a month-on-month increase of 4.5%. Meanwhile, stainless steel long products and wire imports dropped by 70.2% and 54% month on month, respectively.
