Russia’s stainless steel production grows in Sep

According to statistics from the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), Russia’s stainless steel production totaled around 33,000 tons in September, rising by 0.8% compared to the preceding month and by 35.4% from the same month a year ago.

In the first nine months of this year, Russia produced a total of roughly 218,000 tons of stainless steel, a year-on-year increase of 28.4%. The growth in stainless steel output was contributed by stable demand.

In terms of imports, Russia’s stainless steel imports in September fell by 27% month on month and rose by 14% year on year, reaching roughly 35,000 tons. Among them, China was the largest supplier, accounting for a proportion of 67%.

The imports in the January-September period amounted to 368,000 tons, a year-on-year hike of 28%.
