Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden) said it is now resuming normal production after it cut production at its aluminum smelter jointly owned with Alcoa Corp. due to operational problems.

Robert Wilt, CEO of Ma'aden, said the smelter was forced to suspend some potlines owing to certain quality control issues and added that the suspension wouldn’t affect the company’s budget.

This aluminum smelter has an annual production capacity of 800,000 tons. It is 75% owned by Ma'aden and 25% by Alcoa.
