Shougang Hierro Peru (SHP), Peru's only iron ore producer, resumed normal operations on March 29 after workers ended a 14-day strike.
The management and representatives of the miners' union Sindicato de Obreros Mineros de SHP ended the strike and resumed operations only after they successfully resolved differences over a new collective agreement.
The workers are demanding better pay and working conditions, as well as a health prevention and control plan to curb the spread of the epidemic, and compensation for those who have died as a result of the epidemic.
