South African Transalloys plans to cut 30% capacity of silicomanganese

It was reported that South African silicomanganese alloy producer Transalloys planned to cut 30% capacity of silicomanganese because electricity cost was quite high and the end-user of major sales market were affected by the coronavirus epidemic, which caused demand decline and prices to fall. Therefore, the company lowered its fiscal year 2020 production target from 170,000 tons to 120,000 tons.

The main sales market is the United States, followed by Europe, and the rest is for Asia.
