South Korean steel manufacturers are mulling measures to prevent Japan from dumping their hot-rolled steel plates in the country because those products from Japan are flooding in at prices even lower than those from China.

In Japan, to reflect the rising iron ore and other production costs, Nippon Steel has sharply increased its price. On the other side, in South Korea, most of the steel makers such as POSCO and Dongkuk Steel have accused Japanese steel makers that they sell products in South Korea at low prices to offset their declining sales in the local market.

According to industry officials, this might lead to an imposition of anti-dumping duties on Japan's products in order to protect South Korean steel makers from being injured by foreign exporters' price dumping.
