After the 457th Trade Commission meeting held by South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) on February 20, which conducted a preliminary investigation on hot-rolled carbon steel and other alloy steel plates from China, it was concluded that there is sufficient evidence to estimate the fact of dumping and the material injury to the South Korean domestic industry caused by the dumped imports.

As a result, the Korea Trade Commission decided to recommend to the Minister of Strategy and Finance an imposition of a provisional anti-dumping (AD) duty with a rate ranging from 27.91% to 38.02% in order to prevent damage that may occur during the future main investigation period.

The provisional AD duties will be finalized within a month following a review by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and will be effective immediately if it is confirmed.
