China’s Southwest Aluminum (Group) Co. Ltd. has recently successfully developed the large-size thin-walled seamless pipe with ribs, with a diameter of 548mm and a wall thickness of 4mm, which could be used in the manufacturing of aluminum alloy ships.

Aluminum alloy wide-width thin-walled plates with ribs are mainly used for ship hulls, superstructures, decks, and so on. This kind of material can well reduce ships' weight, lower energy consumption, as well as raise ship speed and load capacity.
