Spain's Acerinox announced that operations at its Bahru stainless steel plant in Malaysia have ceased.

Acerinox said it is considering selling the line or moving it to another location. In addition, the company also announced that it will change the operating conditions of the Barrios plant near Cadiz, Spain, and will reduce the operation of the Acerinox Europa plant from five shifts to three shifts, but did not specify the potential impact on production.

At Los Barrios plant, which is with an annual production of 1 million ton, workers led by the ATA union, have been on strike since February to protest against newly proposed wages and working conditions. In Season 1, the strike had a financial impact of €16 million on the company.
