Stainless steel flat-rolled products from China, Taiwan, Indonesia price lack competitiveness

However, South Korea’s supply is not sufficient to meet the domestic demand, so buyers may soon choose to import and will even have a willingness to purchase at higher prices, according to market participants.

After South Korea announced its affirmative final ruling of anti-dumping (AD) on stainless steel flat-rolled products from China, Taiwan, and Indonesia on July 22, these products from the three countries lost the competitive advantage in the South Korean market.

The export prices have risen with the hikes in domestic sales prices. China’s steel mills don’t have the intention to export products due to strong domestic demand presently, overseas buyers also hesitated to buy from China due to the sharp price increases.
