Strike Resources could ship its first batch of iron ore from the company’s Paulsens East mine near Tom Price in WA as early as next month after inking an access agreement with the Pilbara Ports Authority.
The deal is contingent on Strike finalising a logistics plan to move the material to a bulk handling facility in Port Hedland ahead of an expected 200,000-tonne-per-year export operation.
Perth-based Strike will initially look to freight up to 55,000 tonnes of direct shipping ore, or “DSO” lump through the port next month. The material carries an economical indicative grade of 62 per cent and includes a lower-grade “fine” material that runs about 59 per cent iron.
The company is currently locked in discussions with its marketing representative and project financer, Good Importing International to nail down a sales agreement with a Chinese steel mill for its maiden shipment of Paulsens East lump.
