Ta Chen International announced that its subsidiary TCI Texarkana, Inc. will invest US$131 million for the second-phase expansion of its plant in Texas. With the three-year expansion, the plant’s annual production capacity of hot-rolled aluminum sheet and coil will be increased by 72% to 31,000 tons from the current 18,000 tons.

The aluminum sheet and coil plant in Texas was acquired by Ta Chen in 2018. The first phase of the expansion was completed in July this year, with a cold rolling production line installed with an investment of US$260 million.

Ta Chen said that the expansion project this time is mainly for the process from casting to hot rolling, which belongs to the pre-process of cold rolling.

It was understood that the monthly demand for industrial aluminum sheets and coils in the US is normally about 60,000 tons. The monthly demand remained at 45,000 tons in spite of the factors such as inflation, interest rate increases, and economic slowdowns this year that have affected the demand.
