Walsin Lihwa, a stainless steel wire rod and cable manufacturer in Taiwan, announced price increases for its January stainless steel products, led by a jump of NT$4,000/ton for the 300 series. This move responds to a recovery in nickel prices and the continued depreciation of the New Taiwan Dollar. Besides, the company said that a better financial environment exists due to US interest rate cuts and bond-purchasing policies.

Supply dynamics are also changing as China prepares to implement an export licensing system for steel in January 2026. This regulation should lower global supply pressure and help demand recover.

According to Walsin Lihwa, its 200 series prices and copper-contained grades surcharges rose by NT$1,000/ton, and 400 series prices and 316L surcharges remained stable for the upcoming month.
