Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco), a leading stainless steel mill in Taiwan, announced price hikes for January next year.

Among them, the domestic price of 304 cold-rolled and hot-rolled was increased by NT$2,500/ton, that of 430 cold-rolled and hot-rolled was hiked by NT$1,500/ton, and the surcharge of 316L would be negotiated individually.

In terms of export prices, the price of 304 was up by US$100/ton, 430 was hiked by US$50-80/ton, and the surcharge of 316L took individual bargaining methods.

Yusco said that the price of raw materials has risen sharply, especially the price of molybdenum, one important alloying element of 316L, which has recently risen to a 14-year high, pushing up production costs. Coupled with the recovering international market and increasing demand for downstream stock replenishment, Yusco decided to raise its prices this time.
