In early July, Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco), a leading stainless steel manufacturer in Taiwan, warned that it would formally file an anti-dumping (AD) complaint with the Ministry of Finance regarding the Vietnamese cold-rolled stainless steel.

Vietnam's cold-rolled stainless steel exports to Taiwan have been growing rapidly year by year. In the first half of this year, imports reached 20,533 tons, accounting for 70% of the total imports.

In particular, Vietnam's cold-rolled stainless steel imports have skyrocketed since 2024, and the average monthly import volume in the first six months of this year was about 3,500 tons, an increase of about 1,000 tons from the average monthly import volume last year.

With weak market demand and domestic supply already in excess, Vietnam's large imports have put Taiwanese steel mills under great competitive pressure.

As early as April, Yusco issued a warning, hoping that importers would exercise self-discipline. However, the warning was completely ineffective.

Currently, Yusco is collecting relevant evidence with the lawyer. Once all the information is ready, it will formally submit an AD investigation to the Ministry of Finance as early as late August or early September.
