Tata Steel to shut down coke ovens in South Wales plant

Tata Steel has announced the closure of the coke ovens at its major facility in South Wales, citing concerns over their operational stability. The decision caused strong reactions from labor unions. Approximately 200 workers in Port Talbot face potential job losses.

The closure was part of Tata’s proposals for the future of Port Talbot. Negotiations for redundancy and retention packages are underway.
