In the first quarter of the fiscal year 2024, India’s steel producer Tata Steel achieved crude steel production of 5.01 million tons, rising by 2% compared to the same period a year ago, mainly due to higher output from Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL).

However, this figure was 3% lower than the previous quarter, on account of scheduled maintenance shutdowns.

During the period, Tata Steel’s delivery totaled 4.8 million tons, a quarter-on-quarter decrease of 7% and a year-on-year increase of 18%, driven by higher domestic deliveries. Meanwhile, exports dropped year on year to 250,000 tons.
