Turkey reports decrease in Jan-Apr wire rod exports & value

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s wire rod exports amounted to around 336,000 tons in the first four months of this year, falling by 14% compared to the same period a year ago. The export value also dropped by 19% year on year to roughly US$196 million.

Among them, Romania was the main export destination with roughly 125,000 tons, a year-on-year hike of 2%. Libya followed with around 27,000 tons, and Bulgaria ranked third with about 24,000 tons, down by 16% year on year.

In April alone, Turkey exported about 48,000 tons of wire rod, a significant month-on-month fall of 74% and a year-on-year rise of 17%. The value of these exports reached approximately US$29 million, plummeting by 73% month on month and falling by 13% year on year.
