Due to the deterioration of market conditions caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, Turkish low carbon ferrochrome producer, Eti Elektrometalurji, reduced its production capacity.

Low carbon ferrochrome (LC FeCr) is a ferro-alloy used to adjust the proportion of chromium in steel. Due to its high quality, it is a reliable and economical substitute for metallic chromium in superalloy production.

Eti Elektrometalurji has an annual production capacity of 36,000 tons of low carbon ferrochrome.

As of early May, the capacity utilization rate of Eti Elektrometalurji has been reduced by 50%, and the monthly output of low carbon ferrochrome was only about 1,500 tons.

At present, the decision to reduce production capacity was only available for May, and whether it would be extended would depend on the status of the global epidemic.
