According to statistics from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), US alumina imports in the first quarter of this year significantly by 53.5% year on year, reaching 439,000 tons, and this figure also increased by 24.7% compared to the previous quarter.
Brazil remained the largest source of US alumina imports, shipping 313,000 tons during the period, a 42.3% quarter-on-quarter increase and a 43% year-on-year growth. Jamaica exported 66,000 tons to the US, rising by 65.4% quarter on quarter and soaring by 238% year on year.
